With staycations becoming more popular in the UK as a result of the pandemic and overseas travel restrictions, many people are snatching up campervans, motorhomes, or even converting their own vans for camper purposes.
If you are interested in buying a campervan but you’re not sure where to start, allow us to help. Here are some of the top campervan choices for 2023:
Hymer Grand Canyon S Crossover

Voted first place in the Camping Life Trophy 2022 category for panel vans/camping buses over 5.30m in length, here we have the Hymer Grand Canyon S Crossover.
Suitable for off-roading, the Crossover is built on a Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis and comes fully equipped with a generous amount of storage, LED lighting, a spacious washroom, and a comfortable sleeping area with a cold-foam mattress to ensure the most quality nights sleep.
The Grand Canyon S Crossover also prides itself on having up to 10 days of self-sufficiency thanks to the standard equipment package including solar installation and the HYMER Smart Battery System, with two 150 Ah lithium batteries.
From the striking exterior to the luxury interior, it is really no wonder to me why the Crossover was such a popular model at the Motorhome and Caravan show back in October - It is fair to say this is a very exciting addition to the 2023 lineup!

Vanworx Maxtraxx

Next up we have Vanworx’s off-grid 4x4 camper, the MaxTraxx.
The Maxtraxx has been designed for those who want something a little bigger than a camper built upon the Volkswagen T6, and prefer to have that little bit of luxury with the option of a proper bathroom while on your travels.
Built on an MWB Crafter chassis the Maxtraxx comes equipped with a fixed double bed, Webasto diesel night heating and water system, a hot water shower, Thetford Cube removable toilet with storage compartment, a full bike garage, and 12V charging and touch lighting.
Whilst we do not know the exact price of one of the Maxtraxx, we can estimate something around the £75,000 mark, making this one of the most affordable luxury campers out there.

Dreamer D55 UP

Sixth on the list, here we have the D55 Up, a member of Dreamers' entry-level ‘Fun’ range.
The D55 UP is now built upon a Peugeot boxer chassis for 2023 and is equipped with two double-sized beds (one in the rear and another stored in the pop-top roof), a small kitchen, and rather sizeable storage spaces built with families in mind.
A key selling point of the Dreamer D55 has to be the popular Modul’Space washroom design, where the wardrobe swings out of the shower cubicle when you want to use the latter. This washroom also comes packed with a bifold loo door that combines both the toilet and shower room into one, storage shelves with elasticated straps, and a decent-sized shower.
When you take into account the D55 Up’s spec and reasonable price point, I strongly believe this Dreamer camper will be a winner in 2023.

The Eliseo range is Bürstners premium camper van and oozes luxury throughout. The C 543 Active comes equipped with a transverse rear bed, a satellite navigation system with Apple Carplay/ Android Auto, reverse cameras, a fully equipped kitchen area, a spacious washroom, and an optional sunroof.

Danbury Heritage

The Danbury Heritage is a well-built, luxury campervan with 3 chassis specification levels (Silver, Siver DSG, and Gold) available to choose from.
Built on the sturdy VW T6.1 chassis, the Heritage features a low-elevating raising roof, a diesel night heater, and a porta potty as standard. This conversion also benefits from a kitchen and storage unit that runs along the entire offside of the Heritage.
Lastly, one of my favourite parts of the Heritage has to be the two-tone exterior styling that makes this camper stand out from the crowd.

Fairford Plus

Last but not least we have the Fairford Plus finishing up the top 10…
The Fairford campervan has been in the Auto-Sleepers lineup since the beginning of 2016. Now a few years on Autosleepers introduced the upgraded, larger Fairford plus, with a fixed double bed, more garage space, and a generous front lounge area.
Built upon the trusty Peugeot boxer chassis, the Fairford Plus is 6.36m long and comes equipped with the Trauma Aventa air conditioning system, 80w Solar panels, an integrated touchscreen media console with Satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity, and lastly the Top Drive semi-air suspension system to enhance performance and driving abilities.
It is worth mentioning that something that lets the Fairford plus down is its washroom area. The area is rather small and cramped, meaning your shower, toilet, and basin almost feel on top of each other, which isn’t ideal for the taller or larger individual. So yes, while the washroom area is a lot more generous than many campers out there, it could do with a little improvement.
