As specialists in small-capacity bikes with our own claims team, we focus on what we do best: 50cc mopeds, 125cc scooters, young riders, learners and urban commuters across the UK.
Small to mid-capacity bikes are what we know best. With over 25 years focusing on mopeds and scooters, we understand these bikes inside out. We don't try to insure everything; we stick to what we're experts in.
Whether you're 16 on your first 50cc, 17 with your CBT on a 125cc, or an experienced commuter on a maxi-scooter, we've got specialist schemes designed for you.
We work with our own dedicated claims handlers right here in our UK office, with claims administered on behalf of Lexham by Marble Arch. This means:
More flexibility. We assess your individual circumstances and riding history; we don't just tick boxes.
Direct relationship. Speak to the people who handle your claim.

We cover most mopeds and scooters, from 50cc machines to premium maxi-scooters. Here's what we specialise in:
Your first bike? We specialise in insuring 16-year-olds and learner riders on 50cc mopeds.
We understand young riders can struggle to find competitive insurance. That's why we've spent 25+ years building expertise in this exact area.
From CBT learners to daily commuters, we're specialists in 125cc insurance.
Whether you're learning or using your 125cc daily for work, our experts can deliver a policy to suit your needs.
We cover scooters from 125cc and above for experienced riders.
We can also offer bespoke policies for three-wheelers such as the MP3 range.
To get the right policy for your moped or scooter, it's important to understand your cover options. Not sure which level you need? Request a callback and we'll help you choose.
This is the most extensive level of moped or scooter insurance cover. Fully Comprehensive moped or scooter insurance includes:
Damage to your own bike and any third party from accidents – whether it's your fault or not
Fire damage, theft and compensation for your damaged bike (replacement only if less than 1 year old and policy terms apply)
As the name suggests, it's the most comprehensive cover for your vehicle.
This level of cover offers more protection than Third Party Only. It covers you for:
Injury to other people, or damage to vehicles or property in the case of an accident
Theft or attempted theft of your bike
Fire damage to your moped or scooter
If you're responsible for an accident, third party fire and theft (TPFT) doesn't cover the cost of repairing or replacing your vehicle.
This is the minimum legal cover in the UK. It covers you for:
Any damage you cause to someone else’s property or person.
It doesn't cover damage to your own moped or scooter or injury to yourself. It also won't cover the costs of replacing your vehicle if it's stolen, or fire damage.
We offer optional add-ons to enhance your moped or scooter insurance policy. Discover more about upgrades and extras

Your age and riding experience
Where you live and whether you can store your bike in a secure garage or premises

If you want to know about...
Yes, you do. It's against the law to ride on UK roads without at least third-party insurance, even if you've only got a provisional licence.
While you're not required to carry your insurance documents with you constantly, you must provide them to a police officer upon request - either on the spot or within 7 days by presenting them at a police station.
To get a quote, you'll need:
Your bike's registration number
The make and model
Your riding licence details (whether you've passed your CBT, and what type of licence you hold – A1, A2 or full A)
Your postcode
Your date of birth
Details of any previous claims, convictions or accidents in the last five years
Your no claims bonus (if you have one)
How you'll use the bike (social and commuting, business use, delivery, etc.)
Your estimated annual mileage
Don't worry if you haven't got all the details to hand – request a callback and we can help you through the quote.
If you own a moped or scooter, you need to insure it – even if you haven't completed your CBT yet.
If you're not riding it yet, you can declare it SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) so the DVLA knows it's not being used.
Yes, absolutely. We cover riders from 16 to 75, whether you've just passed your CBT on a 50cc moped or you're learning on a 125cc with L-plates.
We know young and learner riders can struggle to find competitive insurance. That's why we've spent 25+ years building expertise in this exact area.
If you want to know about...
The cost of your insurance depends on many factors, including your bike, your age, your riding experience, where you live, and how you use your moped or scooter.
Younger and less experienced riders typically pay higher premiums because insurers see them as higher risk. Your actual premium will depend on your individual circumstances.
Get a quote to see your exact price.
There are a few things that can help bring down your premium:
Fitting additional insurance-approved trackers to your moped or scooter can provide discounts. Keep your bike in a secure garage or premises overnight – mechanical locks are a policy requirement.
Your riding record: Accruing your no claims bonus is the single most efficient way of building up discounts on your insurance quote. Avoid points on your licence.
Policy choices: You could choose a higher voluntary excess to lower your insurance premium. However, take care in ensuring you would still be able to afford the excess should a claim arise, and that the value of the excess does not exceed the value of your vehicle.
Request a callback and we can talk through more ways to lower your premium.
If you want to know about...
You can, but you need to have the right licence for it and your insurance needs to cover pillion cover. When you're getting a quote, we'll ask if you want pillion cover, and we can add that to your policy.
Check your documents to make sure it's included. If you haven't got pillion cover but need to add it, just request a callback or adjust your policy in the Lexham app.
If you're just riding to and from one workplace or college, standard commuting cover is fine.
But if you're doing delivery work (food, parcels, etc.), you'll need specialist delivery rider insurance with Hire and Reward cover.
Request a callback if you're not sure what you need.
You need to tell us about any modifications, both when you're getting a quote and any time you make changes during your policy. That includes things like exhaust systems, performance upgrades, custom paintwork, or any aftermarket parts.
Modifications will usually increase your premium, but we'll work to find you competitive cover. If you're in doubt about whether something counts as a modification, please ask us.
Yes. We offer competitive rates on most electric models.
Many insurers charge higher premiums for electric bikes, but we understand these vehicles and can offer competitive rates.
