Manage your motorcycle insurance policy online via our app or portal. You can make changes, report claims and renew your policy easily.
To get the right policy for your Motorbike, it's important to understand your cover options. Consider the level of cover for your needs.
This is the most extensive level of motorbike insurance cover. Fully Comprehensive motorcycle insurance includes:
Damage to your own bike and any third party from accidents – whether it's your fault or not
Fire damage, theft and compensation for your damaged bike (replacement only if less than 1 year old and policy terms apply)
As the name suggests, it's the most comprehensive cover for your vehicle.
This option covers you for:
Injury to other people, or damage to vehicles or property in the case of an accident
If your motorbike is stolen or damaged from an attempted theft
Fire damage
If you're responsible for an accident, third party fire and theft (TPFT) doesn't cover the cost of repairing your motorbike.
This is the minimum legal cover in the UK. It covers you for:
Any damage you cause to someone else’s property or person.
It doesn't cover damage to your own moped or scooter or injury to yourself. It also won't cover the costs of replacing your vehicle if it's stolen, or fire damage.
We offer optional add-ons to enhance your motorbike insurance policy. Discover more about upgrades and extras

If you want to know about...
Yes, you do. It's against the law to ride on UK roads without at least third-party insurance, even if you've only got a provisional licence.
While you're not required to carry your insurance documents with you constantly, you must provide them to a police officer upon request - either on the spot or within 7 days by presenting them at a police station.
It's also advisable to keep your driving licence with you.
To get a quote, you'll need:
Your bike's registration number
The make and model
Your riding licence details (whether you've passed your CBT, and what type of licence you hold – A1, A2 or full A)
Your postcode
Your date of birth
Details of any previous claims, convictions or accidents in the last five years
Your no claims bonus (if you have one)
How you'll use the bike (social and commuting, business use, delivery, etc.)
Your estimated annual mileage
Don't worry if you haven't got all the details to hand – request a callback and we can help you through the quote.
We specialise in small to mid-capacity bikes. That includes street bikes (sometimes called naked bikes), cruisers, custom bikes, sport bikes, tourers and dual sport bikes. We're particularly focused on learner bikes, commuter bikes and bikes used for delivery work.
If you've got an older bike that needs insuring, we offer classic motorcycle insurance as well.
Yes, absolutely. We cover riders aged from 16 to 75, whether you've just passed your CBT on a 50cc moped or you're a young rider learning on a 125cc with L-plates.
Young riders and learner riders might struggle to find insurance they can easily afford. With over 25 years of experience in this area, we can look at each case to find you the best cover.
It depends what you're doing. If you're just riding to and from one workplace, standard commuting cover should be fine.
But if you're travelling between different sites during the day, visiting clients, or doing any kind of delivery work, you'll need business use cover or specialist delivery rider insurance.
Request a callback if you're not sure. We can talk through what you need.
If you want to know about...
There are a few things that can help bring down your premium:
Fitting additional insurance-approved trackers to your bike, can provide discounts. Keep it in a locked garage or secure premises overnight if possible. Please note that mechanical locks are a policy requirement.
Your riding record makes a big difference. Accruing your no-claims bonus is the single most efficient way of building up discounts on your insurance quote. Try to avoid getting points on your licence or having accidents.
When setting up your policy, you could choose a higher voluntary excess to lower your insurance premium. However, take care to guarantee you would still be able to afford the excess should a claim arise – and that the value of this excess does not exceed the value of your vehicle. Be realistic about your annual mileage, too – estimating too high will increase your premium.
Request a callback and we can talk through more ways to lower your premium.
Unfortunately, yes. Insurers look at things like theft rates in your area, local accident statistics and how built-up the area is. Urban areas tend to have higher premiums because there's more traffic and a higher risk of theft.
You can't change where you live, but keeping your bike in a secure garage overnight can help offset some of that risk.
The more you ride, the more you'll typically pay. Insurers see it as simple maths: more miles mean more time on the road, which means more chance of having an accident.
The important thing is to be honest about your mileage. If you overestimate, you'll pay more than you need to. But if you underestimate and then need to make a claim, you might find your policy isn't valid.
If your mileage changes quite a bit during the year, let us know so we can update your policy.
It can do, yes. Some jobs are considered lower risk, others higher risk. Your occupation can also indicate how you're using your bike. if you're a courier, for example, you'd need our specialist delivery rider insurance.
Just make sure you're honest about your job when you get a quote. Giving false information could mean your policy isn't valid when you need it.
If you want to know about...
You can if you've got the right licence for it. When you're getting a quote, we'll ask if you want pillion cover, and we can add that to your policy.
Check your documents to make sure it's included. If you haven't got pillion cover but need to add it, just request a callback, or adjust your policy on the Lexham Insurance App or through the Lexham Portal on our website.
Most of our policies include European cover for up to 90 days a year, with a maximum of 30 days in one go.
Before you head off, check your policy documents to see which countries you're covered in, how many days you've got, and what level of cover applies when you're abroad, as it might be different to what you've got in the UK.
If you need to extend your cover or you're going somewhere that's not included, request a callback before you go, or manage your policy on the Lexham Insurance App or through the Lexham Portal on our website.
You need to tell us about any modifications, both when you're getting a quote and any time you make changes during your policy. That includes things like exhaust systems, performance upgrades, custom paintwork, or any aftermarket parts. If you’re in doubt, ask us.
We'll look at each bike individually. Modifications will usually increase your premium, but we'll do what we can to find you the best cover.
Some policies include something called "Driving Other Bikes" cover, but it usually comes with quite a few restrictions. It's often only for bikes under a certain size, and even if you've got fully comprehensive cover on your own bike, you might only have third party cover on someone else's. Plus, their bike still needs to have its own insurance anyway.
Not all policies include this, so check your documents or call us to find out what you've got. Don't just assume you're covered - it's not worth the risk.
