At Lexham, we understand how important your classic scooter is to you.
This is why we have specialist policies for your classic or vintage scooter, including various features tailored to suit most classic scooter owners.
Our classic scooter insurance is for scooters that are 20 years old or over. If your bike is less than 20 years old, we also offer standard scooter insurance for newer vehicles.
We cover most makes and types of classic scooters, from well-known manufacturers such as Vespa and Lambretta to rarer and lesser known scooters. So, whether they’re original, restored, modified, chopped or even customised - our broking team will be on hand to assist you throughout the process.
Still unsure if your bike is classic or not? Get in touch, and our team will assist you with any queries you have.
Third-Party Only Insurance (TPO) is the most basic form of cover. This will cover you for any third party damage or injury. This cover does not insure you for damages to your vehicle in the event of an accident.
Third Party, Fire & Theft Insurance (TPFT) covers you for everything in Third Party Only, plus any fire-related damage to or theft of your vehicle.
Fully comprehensive (Fully Comp) classic scooter insurance from Lexham offers you complete cover. You will be covered for all of the aforementioned, as well as any accidental damage to your vehicle due to an accident.
Classic and vintage scooters are defined as scooters that are older than 20 years, no matter what make or model the vehicle is. If you’re unsure of the age of your vehicle, or whether it would be considered a classic scooter, please get in touch.
The cost of your classic scooter insurance will depend on many different factors, such as:
Make & Model of the Scooter
Any additional modifications
Storage Location (ie. garaged)
Where you live
Annual Mileage & Usage
Past convictions
No claims bonus
Classic scooter insurance is designed specifically for older bikes.
Therefore, we work closely with specialist insurers for classic and vintage policies, tailoring your quote to your exact needs.
We also understand that your vintage bike is less likely to be used on a daily basis, which means we can offer limited mileage discounts on these policies, as well as spare parts cover and salvage retention.
If you are looking to take out a Classic Scooter Insurance Polocy with us, in addition to your personal details we’ll need to know further information, such as:
Number plate
The make & model of your bike
Annual mileage
No Claims Bonus (NCB)
Details of any convictions
Details of any accidents in the last five years
You’ll also need to let us know if and when you passed your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) and what type of licence you hold.
If you have any queries regarding the above, please call us on 01379 646 529, send us a message or use our live chat.
Here at Lexham, we are able to offer policies for most types of classic scooters, from well-known brands such as Vespa and Lambretta, as well as lesser-known makes and models, including Triumph, Moto Rumi, MaicoLetta and Panther.
Here at Lexham we also offer a range of optional extras. These include:
If you’re looking to cover your everyday ride and your leisure bike all at once, we offer multi-vehicle policies that cover both your modern two-wheeler and your classic scooter.
We allow up to 8 vehicles on a standard policy, but the total value must not exceed £30,000 but we will happily look at larger collections of vehicles on an individual basis.
For a multi vehicle quote, please call us on 01379 646 529.
When taking out insurance for your classic or vintage scooter, many insurance companies will use the average market value of the particular make and model, rather than the price you’d get if sold on the open market. This can cause problems if you need to claim on your insurance, with insurance companies tending to value your vehicle a lot lower than it's worth.
Here at Lexham, we are Agreed Value Insurance specialists. This means we understand that rarity and restoration can add substantial value to your pride and joy. Therefore, when agreeing the value of your vehicle, we take these aspects into consideration to ensure you are covered for the total value of your vehicle.
To provide a quote for an agreed value policy, we will require more information when setting up, including:
+ Up to 5 photos of the vehicle
+ Copies of bills for parts and servicing (dependent on value)
In some circumstances these will be sent to an independent valuation officer – in these cases please allow extra time to get these policies in place.
