As part of our diversity and inclusion strategy, we’re now providing an updated online experience with an assistive toolbar, enabling website users to access online content and services – at the click of a button.
People visiting the Lexham Insurance site will now be able to access a wide range of accessibility and language support tools to customise their digital experience. This is being done through Recite Me’s assistive technology.
Why is the Recite Me toolbar important?
Around 25% of people in the UK have a disability, which may prevent their reading abilities. Those who are most likely to struggle with online content include (but is not limited to):
- Limited/Diminished Vision
- Learning Difficulties
- Literacy Abilities
- Language/Linguistic Problems
- Attention Disorders
- Physical Disabilities
What can the toolbar do?
The Recite Me tool bar functions include…
- Text-to-Speech Functionality
- Reading Aids (ruler, screen masks & narrowed margins)
- Customisable Font Size, Type and Colour
- Live Translation Feature, boasting over 100 languages (including 65 text-to-speech options)
- The ability to download text-to-speech files straight to your device
Why Have The Lexham Group made the move?
Andy Goodson, Sales and Marketing Director, commented, “Accessibility is extremely important to us at Lexham Insurance. We are committed to ensuring all customers can access information and services in a way that best meets their individual needs.”
"Diversity and Inclusion are at the forefront of our business development plan in 2025, so we are incredibly proud to be able to provide Recite Me’s innovative assistive technology across our website.”
The internet can be an incredibly intimidating place for those with access barriers, and those lacking the tools they need to adequately understand or communicate are at a significant disadvantage – which is why being able to offer an inclusive experience is absolutely essential to us.
Ross Linnett, Recite Me’s Founder and CEO adds, “It is important to provide an inclusive online experience, where everyone can use our digital world in a way in which best suits their needs. As more organisations provide accessibility tools online, those who face online barriers can access information and services hassle-free. The digital world must be accessible for all.”
